Conosco project engineers go H2only for RNLI

The H2Only challenge is on for Ilias Papakonstantinou, Jon Ashfield and Kyle Carter to ditch all drinks – No tea. No coffee. No fizzy drinks. No wine. No beer. No juice. Only water for ten full days.

From 13-23 September, the Conosco projects team aims to raise £300 for the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), helping the organisation continue to save lives at sea. After seeing an ad on the tube, the team decided to take up the challenge, support a good cause and test their longing for liquid.

Kyle is going to miss two beverages in particular: “Coffee, which I need in the morning; and beer, which I need in the evening.” His withdrawal symptoms are likely to include a craving for coffee and jealousy for Friday beer o’clock. Jon agrees: “Coffee and an a nice cold beer are going to be the biggies for me.”

Because he doesn’t drink a lot of liquid other than water anyway (no coffee, alcohol, juice etc.), Ilias has elected to give up his whey protein shakes too. According to Jon, “he is definitely not allowed them in any case.”

Good luck to our team, we’ll catch up with them after ten days to see how they fared.
