Benefits of online backup

Conosco strongly recommends online backup in almost all circumstances. It offers greater reliability, flexibility and doesn't require any capital expenditure or user maintenance. Traditionally companies backed up data to tapes, which needed daily user intervention (swapping tapes, taking tapes offsite, dealing with frequent errors), and were slow and unreliable in restoring data.

Backup is an essential part of your Disaster Recovery plan. It also gives you an automatic 30 day horizon so you can recover individual files that you've accidentally deleted or overwritten, and you have the option to store monthly snapshots of your data.

How online backup works

An online backup service sends data securely via the internet from your servers or computers to an offsite data centre. It is usually set to run automatically every hour or night and is monitored by a central management system for success and failure. In the event of disaster the service can restore your data to ensure you are back up and running as quickly as possible.

Hosted backup solutions

We provide most of our clients with a safe and secure online backup solution called Attix5. This award-winning software allows us to take complete ownership of your backup procedure. We also supply or support other specialist online systems as required.

Dedicated backup solutions

For clients with a significant number of servers or large amount of data, Microsoft's Data Protection Manager (DPM) can be more cost-effective and flexible. 

Tape backup support

Conosco can support tape backup systems where they are still required for specialist or historic reasons.
